Sunday was a test day for Dexter and Dillon as Michelle and I had a few errands to run. We decided to leave the pups downstairs, restricted to the living room and kitchen. No puppy pads were placed on the floor. We wanted to know if potty training was starting to pay off. We kissed the boys goodbye, gave them a tasty little treat, and out the door we ran.
I don’t think we expected to be gone as long as we were, but 3.5 hours later we were back home. We expected the worst. We opened the door…and nothing, no potty spots, no tearing up of the house, everything was fine. Most likely they just slept, but we were very proud of them, and another step towards hopefully giving them a little more freedom in the house instead of being cooped up in the master bathroom. The pups were rewarded with a new little bed that both can lay in, along with two “KooKoo” looking bird toys!
Last week, Dillon was diagnosed with Giardia, which is parasite. We are treating both pups now with medicine. The parasite lives in your yard and likes the damp weather. One of the prevention measures is to make sure and pick up their feces. Looks like I am on poop patrol again!
But that is what I have to do.
My mommy will be here tomorrow evening for the holiday. She is coming to see here #3, down one notch since my nephew Ian arrived :O. I don’t think her new grand-puppies are going to quite fill her emotional storage container that the Ian does. We’ll have a good visit anyway!
Crappy week ahead at work…look out!
